How You Can Help

We welcome offers of assistance and there are a variety of ways that you can get involved with the Emery Walker Trust:

We have a dedicated team of volunteers who support the Trust in a variety of ways. We are always keen to hear from individuals who are interested in supporting the Trust through volunteering. If you would like to find out more about volunteering at 7 Hammersmith Terrace then please follow the link here.

We are seeking to expand the current Trustee body and are looking for applicants to undertake the role of Trustee. To learn more, please click here.

In 2008 the Trust secured a Project Planning grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (“HLF”) of £50,000. This allowed the Trust to commission Access, Audience Development, Conservation Management and Learning plans. They will help to inform future plans for the house which include a further application to the HLF (which was successful in 2014).

In 2009, the Trust was awarded £5,000 from the Leche Trust towards the repair and redecoration of the riverside front of the building. The Tanner Trust awarded the Trust a grant of £5,000 in 2012 to assist with development work – which is being undertaken in conjunction with the William Morris Society.

Just before Christmas 2014, we were delighted to discover that our bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund was successful, enabling the start of Arts and Crafts Hammersmith. This is an exciting partnership project between The William Morris Society and the Emery Walker Trust, through which we aim to bring the lives, influences and work of these two remarkable men to a wider audience. The project involves essential repairs and renovations to Walker’s house at 7 Hammersmith Terrace and improvements to allow much greater public access to this amazing interior and its collections. Works should be finished by 2017.

Fundraising and Donations

The Emery Walker Trust is a registered Charity and needs donations, small or large, to enable the Trust to conserve its unique collection and to help maintain the fabric of the building. Where appropriate, a Gift Aid Form will be sent, so that the value of your donation can be enhanced at no cost to yourself. Please send offers/donations to the address at the bottom of this page.

Alternatively, y
ou may wish to mention us in your will with a legacy or bequest. Such a gift will represent an enduring legacy to preserve this unique house.

In addition, we fundraise for specific projects. Recent donations include the generous gift of £2000 for improvements in the garden and the Trust has raised approximately £15,000 from individuals since the end of 2009.

You can book a place on a tour as a gift for a friend or you may be able to tell others what an interesting house this is to visit. We welcome your letters of support as they can be used in grant applications and help us to publicise the house.

The Trustees are very grateful to all those individuals, foundations and institutions who have helped the charity since its formation by making donations, grants or gifts-in-kind, or by donating their time and skills as trustees and volunteers.

Any donation/offer to help, should be made to:
